Warrensville West Cemetery Gravestone Interpretation Workshop with Dr. Katherine Ranum
Join the Shaker Historical Society, Shaker Heights Public Library, and City of Shaker Heights on Saturday, October 14th from 11:00am – 12:30pm for an interactive workshop on how to interpret symbols on the gravestones of early Warrensville Township residents.
This free event will be led by Katherine Ranum, Ph.D. You will also learn more about the progress of the Warrensville West Cemetery Historic Preservation Master Plan (https://www.shakeronline.com/cemetery).

Katherine R. Ranum holds masters and doctoral degrees in history from the University of Cincinnati. She specializes in embodied religious practices in Christianity, Judaism, and folk religion in the British Atlantic. Her research includes projects on disability, gender, and theology as well as funerary and mortuary practices from the 17th to mid-19th centuries. She is currently serving as a visiting assistant professor at Xavier University in Cincinnati.
