Mystery Book Discussion: Disappearance in Fiji Online

Disappearance in Fiji by Nilima Rao

In 1914, a professional mistake by Sergeant Akal Singh results in a humiliating transfer to a sleepy post on Fiji. Singh faces discrimination on the island, where thousands of Indians are exploited as indentured servants, or "coolies." When an indentured Indian woman disappears from a plantation, some people claim she has run away. But knowing she would never willingly leave her husband and daughter, Singh suspects foul play.
