How To Successfully Navigate The Shaker Schools, Then And Now

For years, parents of Black American students in Shaker Heights have mastered the art of navigating our schools successfully. Now, SHARE organization is eager to pass on this invaluable knowledge to our current community. Join us for this panel of leaders as we learn from their hard- won lessons on how to succeed educationally, address potential challenges faced by your students at school, and together champion the cause of equity in access to educational opportunities. Current high school students and parents will bring us up to date and offer their perspectives on how their families and the community can help them succeed.

With this look at our history and what is possible, we hope to inspire new school-neighborhood based SHARE pods where parents can connect, share experiences, and proactively engage with the Shaker Heights City schools to promote educational success and equitable treatment for their students* this year and in the future. This event is proudly supported by the Shaker Heights City Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, the Shaker Heights City Schools and its Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, the Shaker Heights Public Library, the League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland - Shaker Heights Chapter, and the organizing team of Shaker Heights Activism, Resources, and Empowerment (SHARE).
