Book Buzz: A Short Walk Through a Wide World

Aubry Tourvel was a relatively normal nine-year-old girl growing up in 1880s Paris when she's struck by a deadly and incurable illness. In her desperation, she runs away from home and discovers the one thing that can save her: as long as she never stops traveling, her illness stays at bay. And so beings her lifelong journey, staying only a few days at any one place before fleeing the return of her mysterious illness, never returning to the same place twice. But traveling the world from the Himalayas to sand seas is both wondrous and lonely, and Aubry's life is a constant struggle for meaning and connection in a journey without a destination.
